Our Apprenticeship program is complex and merges multiple personal and professional development processes into one. The amount of information can be overwhelming at first and difficult to understand, especially in light of all of the nuances and synergies that are required. To keep the project as simple and streamlined as possible, participation roles and duties have been established for each individual that contributes to the project. The roles and responsibilities for each participant are broadly listed below. Additional information about each role can be located on the ‘About’ pages for each group.
Apprentices
The Apprentice is the focal point of our project and documentary film. Their primary role is to adhere to the rigorous schedule and activity program that has been created for them as they compete to create new businesses and learn the ins-and-outs of online marketing from The ‘Facilitator’.
The Apprentice
The Apprentice’s primary role is to adhere to the rigorous schedule and activity program that has been created for them as they compete to create new businesses. They will also dedicate at least 20 hours each week to working on their ‘Sponsor’s’ contract which funds the experiment for the full 12 months.
Initially, the Apprentices will have very little knowledge of online marketing and business building. As such, all Sponsor work is assigned and directed by The Facilitator. An apprentice-style relationship is created, with the ‘Apprentice’ learning the ins-and-outs of the business by directly partaking in assigned tasks and research. After the 20 hours per week allocated to the Sponsor, the remaining time is spent on building their businesses, producing material for The Phoenix Initiative, sleep, physical and mental fitness development.
Each Apprentice will be partnered with a Mentor and will compete as a team against the other apprentices to build their business. Those that succeed will become C.E.O of their company and keep any profits. Those that fail will have to donate any earnings to charity.
Mentors
The Mentor role is designed to add an element of expertise and competition to the program, allowing for a better chance of success for the entire project. As an advisory role only, mentors will be able to compete against other mentors to determine who can “out-coach” their Apprentice into more revenue and a better valued business.

Almost every single self-made Millionaire attributes most of their success to having a mentor. In our documentary film, each Mentor will coach and advise their Apprentice to reach the same goal of becoming a self-made millionaire. While the primary focus of the mentors is to help the start-up business succeed, the same knowledge, tactics and insight obtained can be re-purposed and used for both the Sponsor and The Phoenix Initiative website.
Each of the five Mentors will be sought out and obtained by the Apprentices themselves with the only requirement being that their chosen mentor has successfully built a million dollar based company of their own. Mentors are encouraged to ‘co-compete’ against other Mentor/Apprentice teams in an advisory role. Mentors are NOT allowed to leverage any personal, company or financial resources of their own and are restricted to coaching, advice and insight only.
Sponsors
The ‘Sponsor’ has a unique role to play in our documentary, as they fund the project almost in its entirety. The income goes directly to supporting the apprentice’s living and work expenses. In exchange for sponsorship, The ‘Apprentice’ will directly work on behalf of The ‘Sponsor’ for 20 hours each week.

The Sponsor has a unique role to play in our documentary, as they fund the project almost in its entirety. The contracted income goes directly to supporting the apprentice’s living and work expenses. In exchange for sponsorship, The ‘Apprentice’ will directly work on behalf of The ‘Sponsor’ for no-less that 20 hours each week, supervised by The ‘Facilitator’
Our sponsors were selected because they had open job postings for Internet or Search Marketers (the primary specialty of The Facilitator). Rather than apply for the contracts directly, The Facilitator has applied on behalf of an ‘Apprentice‘ and the Sponsor agrees to the Apprentice acting as a surrogate on his/her behalf. The Sponsor benefits by having the combined knowledge of the Facilitator, all five Mentors and the fresh eyes and ambition of an entry level new hire.
The Sponsor also agrees to guarantee a job for the Apprentice at the end of the 12 month program, should the Apprentice fall short of the $1 Million dollar business valuation. The goal; At the end of the 12 months, the Apprentice will be highly trained and sought after by many different companies and have ample opportunities. The guaranteed job offer from the Sponsor is a safety net only.
The Facilitator
The Facilitator’s primary responsibility is to ensure that each Apprentice has the tools, resources and motivation needed to grow both their own, and The ‘Sponsor’s’ business. The ‘Facilitator’ will direct the day-to-day work for each ‘Sponsor’.
The Facilitator
The Facilitator’s primary responsibility is to ensure that each Apprentice has the tools, resources and motivation needed to grow both their own, and The ‘Sponsor’s’ business. While The ‘Facilitator’ will direct the day-to-day work for each ‘Sponsor’, he/she will have a “hands-off” approach to The ‘Apprentice’s’ personal business.
Apprenticeships are designed to leverage the experience and knowledge of a professional who has reached the pinnacle of his/her career or profession. By acting as the “hands and eyes” of the ‘Master’ or ‘Facilitator’, Apprentices are are able to learn and absorb information much faster than through traditional classroom education. In addition to gaining knowledge, apprentices also gain invaluable experience and are able to create their own professional reputations as they engage in the business and online community.
At the end of the 12 month program, The ‘Apprentice’s’ will have all the knowledge and experience to work anywhere in the world as a highly trained internet marketer. We hope however, that such jobs are a last resort and that all effort will be placed into The ‘Apprentice’s’ business being a success.
The Benefactor
The ‘Benefactor’ has a very unique role in the program as he/she does not interact with the Participants in any way. In fact, the only contribution The ‘Benefactor’ makes is by creating the foundation and rules to which the ‘Apprentice’s’ must follow.
The Benefactor
The ‘Benefactor’ has a very unique role in the program as he/she does not interact with the Participants in any way. In fact, the only contribution The ‘Benefactor’ makes is by creating the foundation and rules to which the ‘Apprentice’s’ must follow. For example, in year one, our ‘Benefactor’ has specified that The ‘Apprentices’ must pre-plan every hour in a 24 hour period. This is one example among many other restrictions placed by The ‘Benefactor’.
The entire concept of The Phoenix Initiative was spear-headed by The ‘Benefactor’ and most of the rules and requirements for the project have been assigned per his/her instructions. The identity of The ‘Benefactor’ must remain a mystery as he/she does not want to influence the outcome of our study and competition. The rules and requirements that have been established, combine the best tips, tricks, life-hacks and specialty insight from some of the top business performers in our society.
There is a rumor that The ‘Benefactor’ has a multi-million dollar bet with another mystery stranger, in which he/she has specified that anyone, regardless of their circumstances or past, can be taught to be a successful entrepreneur and change their lives completely.
